Tim supports injured Mexican racers, orphanages and schools, dog rescues, and with his wife Jennifer, donated to date 165 fueling suits to Mag 7 and Baja Pits volunteers who can’t afford safety gear. • Chris Blais

    Championship Off-Road Racer
    Chris Blais

Since childhood, professional off-road racer and master mechanic Chris Blais has been riding in the desert with his family. Over the course of his career, he has achieved countless 2nd place Baja finishes as well as winning the 2005 Baja. Blais is also one of only four Americans to ever make the podium in the Dakar Rally on a Motorcycle. He was the top American Rookie and 9th overall finisher of the 2005 race, 4th overall finisher in 2006, and 3rd overall in the 2007 Dakar Rally riding a KTM 690 Rally motorcycle.

At 18 years of age Blais came to work for American Honda and mentored under Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame racing legend Johnny Campbell. From 1999- 2003 he raced with the Honda Off-Road team after which he signed with the Red Bull / KTM Factory team for 2004-2007. While racing for Honda, he won many Best In The Desert races and championships, most often racing solo and taking many Ironman titles. His success in AMA District 37 Desert, Enduro, and Grand Prix format events back home helped him earn several championships and wins.

In 2007, at the peak of his racing career, Blais suffered a devastating motorcycle accident while pre-running for the Vegas-to-Reno desert race. As a result, he sustained a severe spinal cord injury that subsequently left him unable to walk and with very little feeling from the waist down. Although Chris lost the ability to walk that day, he courageously continued moving forward, knowing that someday, somehow he would race again. Despite this setback, he found renewed motivation to pursue new goals. He pushed through and continued on for 3 more years running the KTM Factory Off-Road Desert and Baja team.

Along with his wife, Patty, an accomplished quad racer herself, Chris established Blais Racing Services in Southern California’s high desert area. Every race bike and motor that comes into the shop is built by Blais, a highly skilled mechanic. To promote the AMA championship series and raise its professionalism, Chris helped form the NHHA (National Hare & Hound Association). Over the course of six years, he served as the marketing manager for the NHHA. As a sponsor of young racers in the NHHA, he mentored them for 7 years, but the time was coming for him to once again start racing.

In 2017, Blais bought a brand new 2018 Can-Am Maverick X3 and headed out to the desert. With a co-pilot now, Chris now has a number of wins in the World Off-Road Crossing Series as well as other events. Between 2018-2020 they scored podium finishes two dozen times. They also took 13 overall victories in different racing series and proved they could run up front wherever they raced. In the AVE Pure Desert Racing Series, they won both the Pro Turbo Class and Overall UTV class titles for 2018-19. In 2020, Can-am stepped up with a car and parts and Chris and his co-pilot won another DP4 Racing Championship and scored a few other large event wins. In 2021, they competed in the entire DP4 series, the BITD Series, the Legacy Racing Series, the UTV World Championship, and the fabled Mint 400. Throughout the 2021 season, they won 5 out of 7 events without finishing off the podium.

Through a lot of sacrifices, hard work, and the unfailing support of his wife Patty, his family, and good friends, Blais was able to reconnect with racing and remember what it’s like to win. Although the challenges Chris faces now are different from those he faced before, he is now a top-level parapalegic racer and Brand Ambassador, racing in the desert once again, where he belongs! Having survived his own life-changing experience, Blais is proud that his story can inspire others to pursue their own passions and overcome odds, just as he has done with his racing and business.

Safety Team

We Take Safety

very seriously!

OHV Tours never expects for accidents to happen, but we are always prepared if they do. Every OHV Tour includes a lead vehicle and a chase vehicle with safety personnel. These vehicles travel with the expedition through the desert terrain. Should help be needed, it is never be far away.

We also provide highway support vehicles that follow the expedition on roadways using satellite GPS connected to emergency personnel. Highway support keeps your gas tanks full, and snacks, water, sunscreen, and other non-emergency comfort items handy. Each expedition crosses the roadway at least three times per day to connect with support vehicles.

In the event of an emergency, OHV Tours keeps helicopter evacuation on standby so parties in need can receive urgent medical care as quickly as possible.
